The Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850 Gathering is a way for the Robinson Huron Treaty communities to exert sovereignty over their traditional territory, gather strength and guidance from the ancestors, and, most importantly, raise awareness amongst Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities about the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850.
Since 2016, the Robinson Huron Treaty communities have come together to commemorate the signing of the Robinson Huron Treaty that took place on September 9, 1850.
The Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850 Gathering started as a way for the Treaty communities to exert their sovereignty over their traditional territory; gather strength and guidance from the ancestors; and, most importantly, raise awareness amongst Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities about the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850.
This year marks the 174th anniversary of the signing of the Robinson Huron Treaty. The Gathering will host approximately 1000 participants, plus political leadership, Treaty experts and workshop presenters.
